It’s hard to believe, but spring is just around the corner, and we definitely aren’t complaining!
Longer brighter days, cute outfits, and cocktails in the sun, what’s not to love!
After months of alternating between hot, dry indoor air and the harsh cold outside, your skin is definitely ready for a change in seasonal skin care.
Many of our clients have been asking what changes they need to be making in their skincare routine & which treatments are the best to have in spring.
So after sitting down with our experienced practitioners to find out what they recommend, we've put together these 6 tips to help you get up to speed.
First things first, you have to drink water. A common misconception is that dry skin will be solved by piling on creams and oils - the more, the better. However, your skin which is made up of 64% water is largely dictated by your hydration levels. Water not only plumps the skin but
encourages collagen production which ensures the cohesion, elasticity and regeneration of skin. It also helps to flush toxins out of the body that can lead to acne and eventually to scarring. Without adequate water levels, your skin will appear dull, and fine lines, wrinkles, scars and pores will appear exaggerated as the face essentially shrinks into
its tightest position. Drink the recommended two litres of water a day (at the minimum) it's the single best thing you can do for your complexion.
TIP #2 TRADE IN CREAM FOR SERUMS
Moisturiser is crucial to any skin-care routine, but using heavy creams in the spring can actually cause annoying breakouts. Heavy creams have lipids that stick to the skin and repair your dry winter skin barrier. When that skin barrier is already healthy, however, the extra lipids to the skin can cause clogged pores and pimples. Look for serum, or hydrating gels rather than creams.
TIP #3 EXFOLIATE
Adding exfoliation to your weekly regime will remove the dullness and flaking caused by dead skin cells.
The TOP TIP here is never exfoliate in the morning, as it will remove all of your natural protection, which has been developed over night through using your night serums
Daily evening use of retinol based exfoliators should help to improve skin tone and softness, revealing beautiful glowing skin. Fora fantastic medicated retinol wash try Tebiskin Gly-Clean.

TIP #4 SWAP YOUR CLEANSER
As you bid farewell to cold weather, introduce stronger cleansers into your skin routine. Like heavy moisturiser, creamy cleansers leave a residue of fats and lipids on the skin.
That’s good in the winter because you have a compromised skin barrier, but you don’t need it in the spring. Opt for normal cleanser once the weather warms up, unless your skin is especially oily, in which case a foaming cleanser can help remove extra oils.
TIP #5 PEEL AWAY YOUR TROUBLES
For deeper renewal of the skin, get a chemical peel. In this treatment, a chemical solution is applied to the skin, eventually causing the outer layer to peel off. The new layer of skin underneath is typically smoother and less wrinkled. Spring is a time when you want to remove dead skin cells so you can have rejuvenated skin at the surface.
Chemical peels can also combine different brightening agents that lighten brown spots and age spots. Talk to us to see what type of peel is best for your skin type.
TIP #6 SUNSCREEN
In the springtime, it’s important to be vigilant about protecting your skin from harmful UV rays. When spring arrives, we spend more time outside than we did in the winter. The most important thing is to make sure you use sunscreen, even if it’s cloudy.
Do you use makeup that has SPF protection?
It may not be enough. A lot of makeup foundation has SPF 15 which is not very efficient. We would recommend a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher.
If your are looking for a lightweight sun protection for your face, check out the Helio 360 range. This range has several products which give a natural sun kissed glow too.
TIP #6 AMINO ACIDS
As we grow older, the production of collagen & elastin slows & breaks down. Which is one of the main causes behind skins laxity & the formation of wrinkles.
A healthy, balanced diet does not always provide all the required amount of nutrients. By supplementing with Amino Acids such as NutraKOS, you'll help your body with collagen & elastin production.
In addition to this, you can use treatments like Sunekos which contain amino acids that stimulate skin cells to produce new collagen and elastin, repairing and rebuilding skin. This process is referred to as a dermal biogenesis, literally skin regeneration.
