A non-surgical facelift

The technique involved in thread lifts has been used for more than 30 years within the NHS for cardiac surgery - the threads dissolve over 3 months allowing for the patient to go on living a normal life. They have a fantastic safety rating; not one person has had an adverse reaction to them.

More recently this type of surgical suture has been adapted for the aesthetic market. There are two types of thread lift available: Mono and COG.

Mono threads are a single filament of thread inserted in the skin via a needle for various indications. The mono filament threads provide volume to areas that are commonly difficult to treat with injectable treatments; under the neck, the side of the face, below the cheeks, the top of the lip, around and under the eyes, for instance.

COG thread lifts provide a non-surgical facelift. COG threads have either (depending on selection) been cut or moulded with microscopic barbs which, when inserted into the face and manipulated to the correct position, hold the skin in place. This provides an immediate lifting and smoothing result.

What is a thread lift?

A thread lift effectively gives you the look of a facelift, but without the painful and invasive surgery. Clients who are unhappy with loose, sagging skin on the face and around the jawline see wonderful results by choosing a thread lift.

The innovative procedure can be done in just 30 minutes, lifting and firming the skin with no downtime at all. Results are instant and effective, shaving years off your appearance without going under the knife.

How does a thread lift work?

As young people, our skin is supported by elastin and collagen, keeping it firm and wrinkle free. However, as we start to age, these proteins begin to weaken, resulting in looser, more fragile skin which has a tendency to sag and wrinkle.

A thread lift replaces the support provided by collagen and elastin, lifting the skin and creating a firmer, more youthful appearance. This is done by inserting a fine piece of thread underneath the skin, allowing the practitioner to reshape and recontour your skin.

Consultation

Thread lifts are highly effective and a popular anti-aging treatment. Our clients love that there is no downtime and that the results are long lasting. The majority of people are suitable for a thread lift, but if you’re in any doubt or have any concerns, your best course of action is to book a free consultation.

We will be pleased to tell you more about thread lift and the details of the procedure at a one to one consultation with you. Our consultant will answer any questions you might have about the treatment, as well as checking your suitability. Why not book a consultation now, and start your journey to a more youthful appearance?

Frequently asked questions

What does a Thread lift treat?

The face:

Wrinkles on the top lip, jowls, pre-jowls, sagging skin on the mid and lower face, jaw line, cheek definition, eyebrow-lift and eye tear trough.

Upper body:

Bingo wings, turkey neck, droopy knees, loose abdominal skin.

Is a thread lift suitable for me?

Patient selection and consultation is key in this procedure. Your expectations and our practitioner's assessment will form the basis of the treatment.

People who benefit the best from thread lifts are usually aged between 35 - 60.

How long does a thread lift take?

Depending on the areas being treated the procedure can take as little as 15 minutes and up to 90 minutes. Following your treatment, a special soothing and hydrating mask will be applied which takes a further 15 - 20 minutes.

Does a Thread lift treatment hurt?

Topical numbing cream will be used when treated with mono threads to keep discomfort to a minimum.

The COG threads are inserted under local anaesthetic, so the procedure is painless.

What are the potential complications?

As with most aesthetic procedures there is a risk of bruising, swelling and localised redness.

Additionally, around 70% of patients experience slight puckering and bunching of the skin - this is a sign that the treatment has been successful and that a great result will be achieved. This puckering always disappears after a maximum of two weeks. Make-up can be worn 24 hours after treatment.
